Get to Know Me

November is here! I thought I would share 10 random facts about me so y’all can get to know me a little better.

I’ll start out with the fact that I am a nurse. I graduated from nursing school in May with the idea that I would get to Charleston and start at a pediatrics office and have my dream hours and dream job. Well that happened, sort of. I got a job at a dermatologists office working with patients of all ages (but mostly elderly). The hours were nice but it turned out to be a part time position with no opportunity to advance to a more full time position and with bills/adulting to do that was no bueno. So, to the hospital I went. For a job atleast. So now I am working on a medical/surgical floor which is the opposite of anything I ever wanted but is turning out to be not so bad.

Fact #2 about me is quite random but I prefer going to the lake over going to the beach. Shocker, I know, since I live in Charleston. I just think the ocean is overrated. Theres sand and it gets everywhere and scary creatures waiting to sting/bite/touch you that you can’t see. Just no.

The 3rd fact about myself is that I have a new found interest in traveling. I have always prided myself on being a homebody and liking to stick to my roots. Well my cousin who is an avid traveler (follow her on instagram for awesome traveling pictures kats_kaptures) convinced my and my other cousin to go to Spain with her this summer and I had the best time of my life. My issue is that I have a hard time rationalizing the high cost it takes to travel. How to travel on a budget, maybe that is a future blog post?

Fact numero 4 is that I’m addicted to sugar. People talk all the time about how Americans are addicted to sugar and yes. I 100% agree. I am that American. You put a dessert in front of me and it’s gone before you can say ‘doughnut’. Yikes.

5th fact: I can play the guitar. But I don’t want any of you out there to think I am a guitar guru or professional by any means. When I say that I can play the guitar, it means that I know a select few chords and do not stray beyond those chords. At one point in time I was trying to learn to do more than just strum chords but for now that is where my talent lies.

The fact about me that is number 6 on this fascinating list is that I completed a half marathon. That was 2 years ago. By now, if I tried to run a half a mile my knees would give out…. but it was a cool experience and I (would not) do it again in a heart beat. If you’ve never run a half marathon before, my best advice would be to take training seriously because if not, you could end up like me and not be able to walk for a week after the race. All jokes aside, I do intend to run a full marathon one day. Fingers crossed.

Fact #7: I have become a coffee drinker. I wasn’t a coffee drinker in college at all surprisingly but since having to wake up at 5:45am to make it to the hospital by 7:00am for work, it has become a necessity. Since it is fall (which coincides with my next fact), I have become a virtuoso at the homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte. That will also be in an upcoming blog post. If you have any good coffee recipes, put them in the comments below. Plz and thnk u!

Eighth fact. Fall is my favorite season!!! You get to wear cute warm weather clothes… unless you live in Charleston where it is summer year round. You also get to be all snuggly in your bed when/if it gets cool outside. There are fun activities such as pumpkin patches and corn mazes. Best of all, it’s football season (Go Cocks!)

#9 Factomundo: I love makeup. Little known fact, I worked at ULTA in college. It was fun working there because all of my coworkers had the same passion for making others feel good about their looks as I did. I think it has the ability to change lives and transform people into who they’ve always wanted to be. The argument for loving yourself the way God made you is a valid one but I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting to feel good about yourself with temporary tweaks. Go work that highlight girl!

The last fact about me is that I love learning new things and how to be crafty. I just moved into a new house and became inspired to create a new look for my room. After coming off of listening to Chip and Joanna Gaines’ audiobook, I decided to try and make my own farmhouse headboard for my room. I LOVE how it turned out!

So those are ten fact about me that you may or may not have already known. Tune in next Tuesday for my next post!
